When a medical emergency happens, you need care that is immediate, skilled, and close to home. The Emergency Department at Coral West Community Hospital is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing care for urgent and serious medical conditions.

 

Our Emergency Department is staffed around the clock by experienced physicians and clinical professionals who are prepared to respond to a wide range of medical emergencies.

When to Visit the Emergency Room

Go to the Emergency Room or call 911 if you or someone with you is experiencing:

  • Chest pain or trouble breathing

  • Stroke symptoms, such as sudden weakness, confusion, or trouble speaking

  • Severe injury, bleeding, or burns

  • Sudden or intense pain

  • Loss of consciousness

  • Seizures

  • Serious allergic reactions

  • Mental health emergencies, including suicidal thoughts, acute psychosis, or severe behavioral disturbances

 

If you’re unsure, it’s always okay to seek emergency care.

What to Expect When You Arrive

When you arrive at the Emergency Department, patients are evaluated as quickly as possible.
Care is prioritized based on medical need so that the most serious conditions are treated first.

 

Based on recent internal data, our average door-to-provider time is about 5 minutes.
Actual wait times may vary depending on patient volume and patient needs.

 

You may see multiple members of our care team during your visit. Our goal is to keep you informed, supported, and treated with compassion, dignity, and respect throughout your time with us.

How Emergency Care Works

Every emergency visit is different, but care often follows these general steps:

  • Evaluation: A medical assessment to understand your condition and immediate needs

  • Treatment: Care based on your symptoms, diagnosis, and level of urgency

  • Testing and Procedures: Access to 24/7 laboratory testing, advanced imaging including CT, ultrasound, and X-ray, and procedures as needed

  • Next Steps: Admission, observation, discharge, or follow-up guidance

 

Our teams work to coordinate care and communicate next steps as clearly as possible.
