Job Summary

Perform routine work diligently and prioritize the safety and security of all patients, employees, buildings, and equipment of Keralty Hospital. This includes monitoring surveillance cameras, patrolling the premises to deter potential threats, responding to emergencies promptly, and enforcing strict access control measures. Maintain clear communication channels with other staff members and de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Stay vigilant and proactive, identifying any security risks or breaches, to maintain a secure environment.


Essential Responsibilities
  1. Monitor hospital premises, interior and exterior, to guard against fire, theft, vandalism, access by unauthorized individuals or other threats.

  2. Investigate disturbances, and in the event of an emergency, take charge of the area maintaining crowd control.

  3. Secures and/or locks building access, offices and parking lot as required.

  4. Escorts visitors and hospital personnel to or from the parking lot.

  5. Provides detailed documentation of all incidents involving security.

  6. Directs patients, visitors, and personnel to hospital departments or parking.

  7. Regulates parking traffic consistent with hospital policies, i.e., monitor parking areas for space availability, appropriate parking of vehicles, proper parking decals and safety of pedestrians.

  8. Provides traffic management for special events or vendor deliveries.

  9. Monitor individuals entering and exiting the building.

  10. Provide visitors with passes after verifying the identity of individuals entering the premises.

  11. Occasionally may require overtime.

  12. Required to have flexibility of schedule.

  13. Performs other assigned duties as required.

  • Communicates well. Speaks clearly and listens carefully.

  • Adheres to policy and procedures as set forth by the hospital.

  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

  • Assists patients and their families if needed.

  • Ability to multitask.


Physical Demands

Exerting up to 20 pounds of force often and negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Minimal sedentary work but involves much standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling and climbing with frequency.


Working Conditions

Works indoor and outdoors, subject to extreme temperature changes common when going outdoors and indoors. Can be subject to working within range of excessive noise.


Reasoning Development

Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems.


Mathematical Development

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Perform the four operations with common and decimal fractions. Be able to measure and calculate measurements.


Language Development

Reading: Read and understand instructions, manuals, etc.

Writing: Be able to write simple basic reports as needed.

Speaking: Be able to speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English and a well-modulated voice.


Relationships to Data, People and Things

Data: Coordinating: Determining time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data; executing determination of and/or reporting on events.

People: Speaking-Signaling: Talking with and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions and/or directions to helpers, assistants, or co-workers.

Things: Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move, or carry objects or materials.


Qualification

To do this job you must have the following amount of total education required:

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.

  • Experience as a security officer is preferred.

  • Current Florida Security Officer D license.

  • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training – Must be obtained within 30 days of employment.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Training – Must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
