Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Nurse plays a critical role in the healthcare team, specializing in assisting physicians during interventional radiology procedures. This position requires a strong understanding of radiologic imaging equipment, patient care, and sterile techniques. The Interventional Radiology Nurse ensures the safe and effective delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety.


Essential Job Functions

Procedure Assistance - Assist physicians in performing a variety of interventional radiology procedures including but not limited to angiography, embolization, stenting, biopsies, and drain placements.

Equipment Preparation - Set up and operate specialized radiologic imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy machines, ultrasound machines, and angiography systems.

Patient Care - Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process. Monitor patients throughout procedures.

Sterile Technique - Maintain sterile fields during procedures. Adhere to strict protocols for instrument sterilization and cleanliness.

Imaging Quality Assurance - Ensure high-quality radiographic images are obtained during procedures, adjusting equipment settings as needed.

Safety Compliance - Adhere to radiation safety protocols. Implement safety measures.

Documentation - Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and any adverse events in electronic medical records or other documentation systems.

Collaboration - Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members.

Quality Improvement - Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety, and operational efficiency within the interventional radiology department.

Continuing Education - Stay updated on advancements in interventional radiology technology, techniques, and safety practices through ongoing education and training programs.


Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Required Education

Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.


Required Experience

Prior experience, 0-2 years, working in interventional radiology or a similar clinical setting.


Qualification
  • Florida Registered Nurse License.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic imaging equipment and techniques.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in interventional radiology or a similar clinical setting preferred.
